Charity for 2016/17 Action for Children

Each year Churchill Methodists choose a charity to support. The money raised at fund raising events is split equally between our chosen charity and the church.

The church year starts in September and for the church year 2016/2017 we have decided to support Action for Children

This charity, formerly known as National Childrens Home, has been helping young and vulnerable people for over 147 years. The founder, Thomas Bowman Stephenson, was a Methodist minister and the charity has been working in partnership with the Methodist Church for over 145 years.

Action for Children believe all children and young people have unique potential and that they should have the support and opportunities they need to reach it. Action for Children helps more than 390,000 children, young people, parents and carers through 611 projects across the UK. We also promote social justice by lobbying and campaigning for change.

Today, Action for Children is the leading UK provider of family and community centres, children's services in rural areas, services for disabled children and their families, and services for young people leaving care.

They provide services in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
